Tour stop at the Eagles Ballroom in Milwaukee on July 17, the country star shared an empowering message behind her fan-favorite song, “Girl In The Mirror.” Moroney called the track, which she co-wrote with Jessie Jo Dillon and Matt Jenkins, “one of my favourite songs I’ve ever written.” She then went on to reflect on the track’s significance in her personal journey and her evolution in understanding self-love. “I wrote it as a reminder to never love the boy more than I love me,” Moroney shared with the crowd, as they screamed their support. “At the time when I wrote this song, I used to think that being strong meant sticking with him and, now that I’m a little older, I realise that the strength is in walking away as soon as you know you deserve better.” Despite her reputation for writing heartbreak songs, Moroney’s latest music, such as “6 Months Later,” promises a more optimistic outlook on life and love.
