Conner Smith returned to the stage at the iconic Grand Ole Opry on Thursday, less than two months after being involved in a deadly car accident in a Nashville crosswalk. During his emotional first performance since the incident, Smith shared, “I’ve found in the darkest of moments, the Lord is so much closer than ever before. He was better than I could ever imagine every step of the way.” The singer-songwriter described this return to the stage as a “new beginning in every way,” expressing gratitude for the chance to start anew. On June 8, Smith was allegedly involved in a fatal accident that claimed the life of 77-year-old Dorothy Dobbins, who was struck by Smith’s Chevrolet Silverado while crossing a Nashville crosswalk. According to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, the “preliminary contributing factor” was Smith’s failure to yield to the pedestrian, though no charges were filed. (People)
